The Kitchens

We have so many gorgeous locations in Calgary shoot at.  So when Sandy Beach was suggested, I was so excited!  I had completely forgotten how amazing this part of the river valley is. Add in to it a completely photogenic and willing family and we had a recipe for a fabulous morning!
Here are a few of our favourite shots.

Evolution

I created a Fine Art piece from one of Jen and Mark's wedding shots for them.  But it never felt done.
I looked at it on and off for quite some time, but I couldn't figure out why it didn't feel done.  It just felt bland. Then today it hit me (of course only a couple of hours before Jen was to come pick up all her prints!) - there was no depth.  It was all very pretty but somehow bland.  Add in some beautiful warmth, texture, stains and it comes alive.  I am in love with this piece now - in fact, it's going up as a display piece because I am so enamored with it! There is something to be said for not rushing the creative process. That is one of the tough things about working to deadlines is that pieces don't always hav a chance to evolve organically.  Today, I am glad for the evolution of this piece.

Nico

I met the next Guess! kids model. Is there a bad angle on babies? I don't think so. Nico so rocked this shoot. Just when we thought he was sleepy or bored, he turned on the intensity. I loved all of his shots! Here are a few of our faves.

Authenticity

Mmmmm....I had the space to hang with my little girl this morning and have some snuggle time. And later, while she played in the family room, I snuggled with my laptop and some French Vanilla coffee.  I had some semi-uninterrupted time to blog-hop and do some discovery. It was wonderful! There are so many amazingly talented people out there and I love that they are sharing their work, passion and souls with the rest of us. On Brene Brown's site, I found some delightful discoveries. Her work on authenticity touched the very part of me that is exploring that currently.  She has created a lovely piece with a lovely message.
It (along with a different version) can be downloaded here. I will be putting it around me, doing somejournalling with it.  It sums up so nicely what I have been stumbling around trying to express.
Enjoy the rest of the long weekend my lovelies!
