Bella - AARCS

Sweet ball of fluff, shy but transforming, reaching out a paw - ready to be loved.  This is Bella. :)

Bella was surrendered from a home that had 7 female cats and she was highly stressed and withdrawn when she first came to AARCS.
Since being in a foster home – Bella has made huge progress. For the first few weeks – she hid and did not allow anyone to touch her. Now she has learned to trust and loves to be petted and tickled under the chin. She is a very gentle cat and although she may be a little shy at first – once she realizes she is not in danger – she loves to follow you around and be fussed over.
Bella has got a long with all the other cats in the home – and currently lives in a home with a Golden Retriever. Bella would do best in a home that is not really noisy – as she tends to like quiet and calm! If you are looking to give a home to gentle, loving cat – come visit Bella.

Journey - AARCS

Many of you may have seen the story about Journey on the news a few weeks ago. It touched my heart, but when I met him, he stole it completely! You would never know what he has gone through - a gentle, sweet and lovely puppy.  Here's his story - Journey is available for adoption on the AARCS site.

Hi everyone! My name is Journey. I had a rough start at life, I was found in a leg hold trap but some amazing people came to my rescue. It hasn’t taken me long to feel better with all the love I’ve received.
Did I mention, I love people! I can’t stop wagging my tail! I wiggle with excitement constantly. Will you be the one to give me my fill of belly rubs??
I live with a dog they call, “Sykes” she is so much fun to play with. I like the little chihuahua to but he doesn’t want to play. The cats are comical when they spit at me but who would want to play with someone who spits at you anyway.
I love to go on walks with my foster mom and dad, I’m still learning why I can't pull on the leash. My recall is pretty good but I mostly follow Sykes lead.
I’m kennel trained, I sleep through the night and I’m very consistent with my house training, I’m super smart! I’m learning sit and lay down but make sure you have treats on hand.
I’m just waiting for a family to give my love and companionship too. I’m a fun loving, heart melting guy that will be at your side. Can’t wait to meet my furever family, love Journey.

AARCS - Bowser

The many situations that dogs who are rescued from by AARCS come from are truly heartbreaking.  This is especially the case with Bowser.  This dog is so sweet and truly deserves a loving home. He touched my heart and I hope he quickly find a home to bring out the best in him and make him feel safe. In the meantime, he is with the best foster parents possible. This is Bowser- his profile says it all!
Hello! My name is Bowser. I’m an extra large guy with a heart to match. When rescuers came to find me I had a leash embedded around my neck and was tied up outside. The vet carefully cut the leash off of me and I have never felt so good. I then made the trek into Calgary to start a whole new life.
I was pretty shut down when I first got here. Didn’t really know what was happening. My foster parents tried to get me in their house for 2 hours. I had never been in a house before and didn’t want to get in trouble. Once I realized I was allowed in, I never looked back. I love snuggling and just hanging out. I get along great with all the resident dogs and the cat. I wouldn’t mind being in a house with other animals or just by myself. As long as I get lots of love from my family I will be happy forever.
My foster mom always tells me how great I am on the leash. I don’t get why she is so impressed…it’s not rocket science. I do tend to get a little stressed on car rides but I am working on that. I like to play with my foster parents but don’t quite know how to play with the other dogs here. They just seem to jump around in circles….I would rather lay and get a belly rub!
If you have room for me in your family please fill out an application today. I know you will fall in love with me the moment you see me.

AARCS puppies galore

Here are a just a couple of rescue dogs I shot recently - they were both absolutely sweet - really what puppy isn't! I need a huge acreage so they can all come live with me.... but barring that, if you are looking for a sweetheart to call your own, check these guys out.
Jen
Hi there, my name’s Jack, Jack Frost! It was really cold when my AARCS heroes came to save me, not all of my family made it.. but I did, and I’m so happy! My foster family says I have a great personality; I get along really well with dogs and people, I just love to play and give them kisses! I am perfectly crate trained; sometimes I whine for a few minutes when I first go into my crate, but once I’m settled I will sleep through the night or while you’re away. My house training is going very well, sometimes I just need a little reminder. I love playing with toys and balls, and all the dogs and people I get to meet! I would be happy to be friends with cats, I just haven’t had much practice with them yet, same with kids. My foster mom says I’m really smart and am picking up all my training very well – I can do sit, down, and will come when called! I just love to be part of the group, and am happy to lay down at your feet and relax.
It would be so nice to meet you and give you snuggles and kisses. Please fill out an application, I am really looking forward to finding my forever family! Love Jack.

This confident and affectionate little girl is eager to be wherever the action is.  Always willing to offer a quick snuggle and puppy kisses, then off Holly goes to play with whomever is available. Holly adores all the dogs and people she meets and she is a vocal little girl who talks up a storm while she plays. She has been curious about the cat, but the cat isn’t interested, so Holly just moves on.  Holly is learning to settle in her crate during the day and already sleeps through the night on her bed in our room. House training has been going very well and Holly is learning to be patient at meal-time.
Holly would make a great addition to any home. Please come and meet her - here's her link! http://aarcs.ca/portfolio-item/a21696828/

Adoptable Kittens and Cats from AARCS

CLOVE

Clove is a very outgoing 4 month old kitten. She has no fear and immediate settles into new environments. Clove loves everything and everyone; other cats, dogs, kids…you name it, Clove loves them! And oh boy, does she love to play! A typical day in the life of Clove goes like this; breakfast, play, play some more, nap, play, supper, play, snuggle on the couch with her people, play until bed time. That’s a lot of playing, but Clove also LOVES her snuggle time! She will happily curl up on your lap or shoulder and purr contently until she falls asleep. And she’s a good sleeper at night. There is no middle of the night playtime. She gets all her playing done during the day. Clove uses the litter box 100%, doesn’t scratch the furniture or get into anything that she shouldn’t. Because Clove is young and still very playful she would do best in a home with another young cat/kitten to be her buddy. If you are looking for a kitten who will provide hours of entertainment as well as soak up all the love you can give her then Clove is the kitten for you!http://aarcs.ca/portfolio-item/a20926834/

 SADIE

Sadi is a 5 year old, declawed female who came into AARCS care with her ‘sister’ Myrtle when their previous owner became ill and could no longer care for them. There is no doubt that Sadi’s previous owner loved her very much as she has a wonderful disposition and is very, very friendly. She LOVES to sit in the window and have a nap in the afternoon sun or watch the birds and squirrels in the trees. Sadi loves to be petted, get ear scratches and will sleep with her people on occasion. Sadi is curious and likes to know what is going on. She accompanies her foster Mom where ever she goes, preferring to walk along beside her rather than being carried. Sadi currently lives with other cats and a dog and gets along with everyone. It would be wonderful if Sadi was adopted with her sister Myrtle, but it’s not mandatory. Does Sadi sound like she’s the right cat to make your family complete?? http://aarcs.ca/portfolio-item/a20555407/

MYRTLE

Myrtle is an absolutely beautiful 5 year old female who came into AARCS care with her ‘sister’ Sadi when their previous owner became ill and could no longer care for them. Everyone that meets Myrtle comments on how beautiful and what a lovely mannered cat she is. Myrtle is a very calm, laid back lady (yes, she’s all lady!) who enjoys lounging in the sunshine and keeping her people company. She is rarely makes a sound and has a little tiny meow. Myrtle doesn’t beg for affection but if you’d like to snuggle with her then she’s all for it! She’ll happily sit on your lap or be carried around. Myrtle lives with several other cats and a dog and gets along fine with them, although her foster family is sure she’ll be happy to see the rambuncious kitten get adopted. It would be wonderful if Myrtle was adopted with her sister Sadi, but it’s not mandatory. If you are interested in Myrtle please pay her a visit, you will fall instantly in love! http://aarcs.ca/portfolio-item/a20555362/
